Thanks for your interest in Mystique - the interactive magazine for members of the Myst Fan Club. You needn’t actually be a member of the Fan Club to enjoy Mystique. You don’t even have to have played Myst! And if you haven’t, Mystique Issue 1 is built around a tiny, working demo of Myst. In Mystique Issue 1, you will find all the great features promised in recent Fan Club Updates, and more! An interview with the Miller brothers, Letters from Catherine, My Life as a Genius, a new musical composition written for this issue, a challenging card game, some nifty Myst Wallpaper samples, and much more! Mystique is a standalone application that does not require SuperCard or any other software.
REQUIREMENTS
Mystique is a complete standalone application that DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY OTHER SOFTWARE. Mystique should run on any 256 color Mac. This issue of Mystique requires 5mb of Ram, and takes up about 6.5mb on your hard drive (though about 1.5mb of that consists of separate goodies that you can remove if you wish). I apologize for creating such a memory hog - I was determined to keep Mystique as small as possible, but in doing so, I unintentionally drove up its memory requirements. I promise now to do what I can to reduce the memory requirements of future issues. Mystique has been tested on a number of machines. The slowest machine it was tried out on was a stock IIsi with 5mb of Ram, and another 4mb of virtual memory. It will run with virtual memory - but very slowly. Again, I apologize, and promise to do what I can to alleviate this problem with future issues.

By the way, if you downloaded this from an electronic service, a floppy version of this issue (it fits on 3 floppies) is available via US Mail for only US$4! If you’re in the US, just drop me a note with your name and full mailing address, and I will promptly send you a copy. I will accept personal checks, money orders, and cash (but only if you must! No coins, please - and fold the bills up in a good, thick, opaque piece of paper). Do not send payment until I give you word that I’ve put your copy in the mail - I don’t know yet how many orders to expect, and I’m not sure how many orders I’ll be able to handle per day.
